I send greetings to those celebrating the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Dog.
Men and women of Asian descent mark the Lunar New Year with a spirit of renewal and hope. This day is an opportunity to appreciate the special bonds between friends and family and to remember the legacy and wisdom of ancestors. It is also a time to look ahead to the many new opportunities the future will bring.
Lunar New Year events celebrate the richness of Asian culture and contribute to the strength of our diverse society. By honoring their heritage, Asian Americans and people of Asian descent around the world will help ensure that their values and traditions are passed on to future generations.
