It starts with the New Moon on the first day of the New Year and ends 15 days later with the Lantern Festival. The New Year is a time for thanksgiving and reconnecting with family and friends. Traditional observances include prayers to the ancestors and to the gods.

The history of each nation of the world holds cherished myths and legends. With a civilization that is more than 5,000 years old, China’s culture is one that still feels a connection to the gods. Traditional values, such as paying homage to the heavens, Buddhas, and gods are among the treasures of ancient Chinese culture. Historically, Chinese dynasties expressed the benevolent character traits consistent with being honest, moral, and righteous, and the practical spiritual wisdom of truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. Audiences will be drawn into the ancient Chinese dynastic cultural traditions that have sustained Chinese culture for thousands of year.

The Chinese New Year gala will feature world-class artists performing a variety of artistic styles that showcase the best of the East and West. Performances of grand Chinese dance will be interspersed with various more colorful and whimsical dances, classical Western ballet, and Chinese instrumental music. An impressive ensemble of Western wind and string instrumentalists will be presented along with a full chorus. Breathtaking martial arts and acrobatic performances will round out a thrilling evening.
